"The Spirit of Progress at Sunrise," 12x8 print by Barry Butler
Located on Michigan Avenue and Madison Street, the Montgomery Ward Tower was proclaimed "the tallest in Chicago" at 394 feet and, in 1889, it was the highest point in America except for the top of Philadelphia's City Hall. Affixed to the top of the Montgomery Ward Building was an eighteen-foot-tall weathervane by Scottish-born artist J. Massey Rhind entitled "The Spirit of Progress," which became the symbol of the company and appeared on storefronts and catalogs.
Barry Butler is a Chicago-based internationally published landscape photographer. You can find his work on television, book, advertising and music album covers. Two of Barry's photos were recognized by the Thrillist's as Top Chicago Photos of 2016 and Huffington Post's "Top 50 Photos" in Chicago for 2013.
Package includes a $50 American Express gift card to use towards framing (or anything else you want).
