This is a very special auction item for the Assumption family.
For those of you that know the Sargent family here at Assumption, their children have played on various teams throughout the years and the Sargent name is
household within the soccer program. Their youngest daughter, Alyssa, currently plays with the 2nd grade girls' teams.
Josh, whom most have read or heard about in the last year, attended Assumption from Kindergarten through 8th grade, graduating in 2014, playing soccer during his early years at the parish and returning for his 8 th grade season. Josh attended St. Dominic and the prestigious IMG Academy in Florida where he trained under the watchful eyes of some of the best coaches in the country. He played for many years in the Scott Gallagher FC program where he groomed his
skills and moved along to eventually playing for the US National Team. In 2015 Josh was named to the US Under 17 team where he traveled to numerous countries playing teams from around the world. He has played soccer in India, South Korea, Japan, Turkey, Czech Republic, France, Dubai, Jamaica,
England, Ireland, Scotland, the Netherlands, Germany, Portugal, Honduras, Panama, Mexico and Costa Rica. Josh captained the Under 17 U.S. National Team who reached the quarterfinals in the Under 17 World Cup last year. He was also invited to play for the US in the Under 20 World Cup in 2017, and helped the team reach the quarterfinals before being eliminated. At the end of 2017 Josh was invited to his first full Mens National Team camp in Portugal.
Josh moved to Bremen, Germany on January 1st of this year and signed his first professional soccer contract with the Bundesliga Soccer Club, Werder Bremen,
on his 18th birthday - February 20th. He will begin competing for the club next season in July of 2018.
Josh has earned numerous accolades in a very short time which include:

  • Voted U.S. Soccer Youth Player of the Year - 2017
  • Awarded the Carl O Bauer Award by the Missouri Athletic Club (Top St.
  • Louis Amateur sports figure of the Year) - 2017
  • Awarded the Keough Award by the St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame
  • (Outstanding St. Louis Soccer Player of the Year) - 2017
  • Awarded All American honors - 2016 and 2017
  • Voted United Soccer Coaches Youth Soccer Player of the Year - 2017
  • Won the Silver Boot (2nd most goals scored) in the 2017 Under 20 World Cup

In addition to all of that, Josh made history in 2017:

  • He is the youngest American player to ever score in an Under 20 World CupHe tied the record in becoming one of the U.S all-time leading goal scorers at the Under 20 World Cup.
  • He is the only American player to ever appear in a Under 17, Under 20 and full US Mens national team camp during the same calendar year

This is truly something that we as a Parish can be proud of. Josh is a rounding into a very special young man that Jeff and Liane are quite proud of, and we are
fortunate to have as a part of the Assumption family.
So up for bid is a signed US National Team jersey that was signed by Josh, along with photos of his early teams here at Assumption and a photo of Josh
signing the jersey with his name and US team number.
