Have you ever wondered what's involved in making your own sausage? Do you suffer from "sticker shock" every time you pick up your processed deer from the butcher? Now's your chance for you and up to (2) guests to learn first-hand from one of our very own Parishioners!
Darrell Thompson will walk you, step-by-step, through the process of grinding, stuffing, smoking and vacuum-sealing 25 pounds (27-33 packages) of summer sausage that YOU will take home!
Included in your experience:
* 25 lbs. of meat (deer and pork)
* Sausage casings
* Seasoning
* All tools, equipment, materials
* Beer !
The process (instruction) will take place over a 3-day period. Days 1 & 2 must be consecutive; day 3 can be up to 3-4 days later if preferred. It can be completed over a weekend or weekday evenings at the Thompson's residence in O'Fallon; or possible arrangements can be made to use the Thompson family deer-camp in Bowling Green, MO (about 1-hour away).
Day 1: Grinding, mixing & stuffing (3-4 hrs.)
Day 2: Smoking (6-8 hrs.)
Day 3: Packaging
What a great opportunity to pick up a skill! Involve a child or friend and share the experience AND come home with some delicious Venison sausage!
Date to be mutually agreed upon by both parties between February-May 2017. Experience expires June 1, 2017. In the event a mutually agreeable date is not possible, the sausage will be made for you and delivered.
The Thompson's will be present at the auction should you have any questions.
