The Jean Foillard Morgon "Cote du Py" changes the expectations of a Beaujolais. Highly regarded for its powerful aromas of redcurrant berries, black raspberry, dried rose, leather, and hints of smoke, the Cote du Py is very balanced and finishes with lingering spices. The 2013 Jean Dumont Chinon shows the coolness of the region's Atlantic-influenced climate. Unlike the sweeter, heavier examples of Cabernet franc from warmer zones, it offers - as beautifully demonstrated in this example - fresh, food-friendly acidity, firm tannins and herby, tea-leaf notes that accent crunchy red fruit flavors The grapes come from Saget-owned vineyards in Chinon, whose vines dig into clay soils over a bed of limestone.
This package includes a magnum of 2010 Jean Foillard Cote du Py Morgan plus four 750 ml 2013 Jean Dumont Chinon.
