PREPARING
by Rebecca Wolfram
Oil on canvas 40"x 32"
"Preparing" oil painting on canvas The painting features two large birds facing each other; the one on the left is based on a bird in the process of being taxidermied at the Field Museum; the one on the right is a type of stork. Between them is a circle of little girls in a nest-like or corral-like enclosure, doing something mysterious and possibly ritualistic.
Rebecca Wolfram was born in Oregon but has been a painter in Chicago for many years. She has exhibited in numerous venues, including shows at La Llorona Gallery, Chicago; Elmhurst College; the Illinois State Museum, Chicago and other Illinois locations; Centro Cultural Valverde, Madrid; South Suburban College, Illinois; the Hurn Museum, Savannah, Georgia; as well as various group shows in the U.S. and Mexico: Galeria Jose Maria Velasco, Mexico City; Evanston and Vicinity Biennial 2010; Bridgeport Arts Center, Chicago; Casas de la Cultura, Oaxaca and Juchitan, Mexico.
