Boudhanath Temple:

This is an image taken from the then King's private military helicopter, by renowned photographer Bill Thompson. It was created for a story entitled the Kathmandu Valley for National Geographic.

The Buddhist stupa of Boudhanath dominates the skyline. The ancient Stupa is one of the largest in the world. The influx of large populations of refugees from Tibet has seen the construction of over 50 Tibetan Gompas (Monasteries) near Boudhanath.

Dr. Thompson, now retired from National Geographic, travels extensively, directs film and videos towards making a better world. He also teaches a course for Quest University Canada entitled Visual Anthropology and it takes place in remote areas of Ladakh and Zanskar, India. Dr. Thompson is a long standing member of the AAC and it should be noted that he owned and operation Jackson Hole Mountain guides for 15 years.
