Attilio Ghisolfi Nebbiolo Barolo Bricco Visette
Lying along the road that winds its way up from Castiglione Falletto to Monforte, the Attilio Ghisolfi winery is surrounded by the vineyards of Bussia, one of the finest crus in the Barolo wine-growing area. The company has been run by Gianmarco since 1988, when he began bottling the wines that had been produced on the farm for three generations. The traditional local varieties (Nebbiolo, Barbera, Freisa) are grown on around 7 hectares (17 acres) of vineyards, alongside another which is quite unusual for this area: Pinot Noir. The most prestigious label is Barolo Bricco Visette. A recent review of the 1999 Barolo Bricco Visette reads, "Ruby-garnet color. Open nose of sweet cherries, some red berries, tar, some flowers and a touch of tobacco. On the palate there are cherries again, flowers, tobacco, a touch of smoke and some minerals. Medium-full body with still medium acidity and medium tannin (that is a touch drying). Medium-long finish. Really nice and totally mature Barolo which pairs perfectly with the Tajarin with summer truffle." Generously donated by 7th Circuit Court of Appeals Chief Judge Diane Wood who has been a longstanding oboe player in the CBASO.
