Danielle Dutson is an artist who works with the 4word: Portland group each month at their luncheons. She painted the featured painting specifically for the 4word Gala. It is an Oregon landscape done with acrylics. From Danielle the artist" One of the pieces shown is titled "Heaven" that is abstract yellow and blue. I did that one after being inspired by a 4word event!"

My name is Danielle Dutson. I am an aspiring abstract, modern painter. Most of my work is landscape driven. I am inspired by nature and the beauty that lies there. I grew up in Idaho and Utah exploring the outdoors with every chance I got. After completing my Bachelor of Fine Art with honors from Idaho State University, I eventually moved to Portland, Oregon where I absolutely feel at home. While the deserts of Southwestern Utah and the high mountains of Galena Idaho call to me, Oregon has its own page in my heart. When I am in nature, the stillness moves me. I try to create that movement on my canvas. I typically work with oil, acrylic, pastel, and ink. Sometimes the painting is more about the experience of expression, rather than the expression itself.

4word has been a great inspiration to me from the moment I was first introduced. While working full time as an aspiring artist, I also work full time at Bluehour restaurant as the Private Dining Captain. 4word starting coming to my work years ago and from the very first one I was moved and deeply appreciative of the time spent with them even in a short one hour luncheon.

At first, I was trying to figure out who these ladies were and why were they meeting. Then I realized that no matter what they talked about, it was a supportive, spiritual, welcoming environment that empowers women. How could I not love that!? I have been there for almost every single luncheon that the Portland branch of 4word has done, and each time I leave inspired and contemplative about the days discussion. I find myself later that evening thinking of the great topic or what the speaker was saying.

There have even been paintings I created that were inspired by 4word. Every luncheon is thought provoking and heartfelt. The women that attend are all exceptionally kind, welcoming, and warm. When you walk into the room, you can feel the difference. It just feels great! I am very grateful for my relationship with 4word and was very pleased to donate a painting for the auction. They have inspired me many, many times!
