Three 750ml bottles of 2007 Provenance Three Palms Merlot from Provenance Vineyards.
Wine Spectator scored 90 points noting "tightly wound yet still sleek, with currant and mocha aromas and complex black cherry, cedar and toasty herb notes that lead to ripe but firm tannins. Best after 2011."
Three Palms is an 83-acre vineyard located on the northeast side of the Napa Valley covered with volcanic stones. The soil is rocky and well drained causing the vines to send their roots far, wide and deep to find necessary nutrients and water. The rocky soils and its climate of hot-but not too hot-days and cool nights produce uncommonly robust Merlot. The stones absorb the sun's heat during the day and radiate the heat during the night to protect the vines during frost season.
In 2011, Duckhorn Vineyards acquired exclusive and long term rights to all of the grapes from Three Palms, making this a great collectable. You could lay this down for another 10 years, but it ready to drink right now.
