A beautifully matted and framed copy of Salus Polulii Romani - a Roman Catholic title associated with the venerated image of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The original Byzantine icon of the Madonna and Christ Child holding a Gospel book, recounted by tradition to have been painted by St. Luke the Evangelist, is enshrined within the Borghese (Pauline) Chapel of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome. Many popes have venerated the image- Pope Francis made this icon one of his first places of pilgrimage the day after his election to the Papacy.
The matted and framed size is 18" x 23" with the black mat highlighting a gold-tone frame.
