COMMENTARY and PROFESSIONAL OPINION:
The Playing Cards suite of seventeen images was created as original gouache paintings by Salvador Dali for Atlantic City publisher Reese Palley who executed photo-offset lithographic reproductions of the paintings in an edition totaling 2,905 prints on either B F K Rives or Japon paper.
Email Allison Fields at [email protected] to receive a copy of the full Official Provenance, authenticated by Bernard Ewell.
The prints, while not fully original because the paintings are the original images,
are fully authentic in that the artist created the images under contract with the
publisher with the intention that they be translated into prints. He then signed
each print to indicate his acceptance of the results.
