ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The internship is with DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin '77 and will include the opportunity to observe and learn about the operations of county government departments, programs and services. DuPage County is the second largest county in Illinois with 932,126 residents and is a major employment center for northeastern Illinois, home to over 750,000 jobs, 16 colleges, seven hospitals, two national laboratories and 300 miles of trails and bikeways. The student will have the opportunity to attend county committee meetings, a county board session, tour county facilities and meet with county elected officials and senior staff.
ABOUT THE DUPAGE COUNTY BOARD CHAIRMAN
The County Board Chairman is the chief executive officer of the County Board, supervising the implementation of the Board's policies and programs. Dan Cronin won election to the office of County Board Chairman, first in November of 2010 and again in November of 2014, after serving in the Illinois General Assembly for 20 years. Chairman Cronin is committed to the ACT (Accountability, Consolidation & Transparency) Initiative to reduce the size, scope and cost of local government. To date, the reform measures under the ACT program have saved taxpayers over $100 million.
