About Cancer Support Community Los Angeles
This year marks 40 years of Cancer Support Community Los Angeles, formerly The Wellness Community, positively impacting the lives of tens of thousands of people in Los Angeles and millions around the world affected by cancer, all without the burden of cost for services. Our mission is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action , and sustained by community.
In 1982, Dr. Harold Benjamin revolutionized the global cancer community with his Patient Empowerment Model, encouraging patients and families to partner with their physicians, take control of their healthcare, and participate fully in their quest for a better quality of life. Today, Cancer Support Community Los Angeles continues to provide free, no-cost psychosocial services to persons living with cancer - all ages, all diagnoses, and at all stages - and their loved ones.
