ABOUT TRANSPORT GROUP

Transport Group is a New York-based, off-Broadway Theatre Company that stages new works and radically-reimagined revivals by American writer. Since our founding in 2001 under the artistic direction of Jack Cummings III, we have produced 14 World Premieres, 17 New Works, and 16 Revivals.

Transport Group Theatre Company's 2021-2022 season began with the critically acclaimed revival of The Patsy, starring six time OBIE Award Winner David Greenspan.  Two time OBIE Award Winner and TG Artistic Director, Jack Cummings III, revived this incredible one-man show filled with familial intrigue, marital sparring and lovers in pursuit  at the Abrons Arts Center, March 30th - April 30th.  This season's Anne L. Bernstein Concert Series will be announced soon.

Recent work includes our 2019-2020 season which featured world premiere musical Broadbend, Arkansas produced in association with The Public Theatre, with libretto by Harrison David Rivers and Ellen Fitzhugh and a score by Ted Shen, and Meredith Willson's The Unsinkable Molly Brown with a revised libretto from Dick Scanlan, directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, and starring Beth Malone. Additional work includes Renascence with music by Carmel Dean, book by Dick Scanlan, with lyrics from the poems of Edna St. Vincent Millay. A radically adapted The Trial of the Catonsville Nine produced in partnership with NAATCO, Summer and Smoke, produced in partnership with CSC, the wholly reimagined Strange Interlude, starring David Greenspan (and only David Greenspan!), our unique and hilarious revival of Once Upon a Mattress starring Jackie Hoffman and John "Lypsinka" Epperson; the world-premiere performance piece Three Days to See, a theatrical exploration of the writings of Helen Keller; a revival of John Van Druten's classic play I Remember Mama (Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Revival of a Play), reconceived with an ensemble cast of ten women in their 70s and 80s; the first New York revival of John Cariani's Almost, Maine; and the sold-out, all-star concerts of Sweet Charity, Promises, Promises, The Man of La Mancha, Baby, Once Upon a Mattress, The Music Man, Peter Pan, Queen of the Mist, and A Man of No Importance.
