In 2003, Pass the Book aka Page Turners Make Great Learners, Inc. started with sixty members in grades three through five at Murphey Candler Elementary in Lithonia, Georgia. With the encouragement of parents and supportive teachers, the number of students nearly doubled in 2004 to one hundred thirty students in grades two through five. The outpour of requests and support of the program were received both locally and nationally.

What began as a campaign born of self-interest became a call to action. Reading is not just an essential skill, but a flame that, when kindled, can light the way to new adventures, spark imagination and creativity, and ignite an ever-growing sense of one's own possibilities. Therefore, in 2005 the founder filed for 501(c)3 nonprofit status as Page Turners Make Great Learners, Inc. to broaden its reach in serving more students and schools.

Over the past 14 years, Page Turners Make Great Learners has conducted read-a-thons, book clubs and book donation drives benefiting thousands of children.
