My name is Gretchen and I joined the American Cancer Society's GenNow network because cancer has never been a distant issue in my life. It's something my family has faced again and again. We have an extensive history of cancer, and most recently, I lost my aunt to the breast cancer just shortly before becoming involved with this group. That loss made everything feel more urgent and more personal. It reinforced how devastating a cancer diagnosis can be, not just for the individual, but for everyone who loves them.
As a medical student, I'm passionate about understanding cancer from every angle, from prevention and diagnosis to treatment and survivorship. But knowledge alone doesn't feel like enough. I wanted to take action now, to be part of something that actively supports patients and families while contributing to progress toward better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
GenNow gives me a way to turn both my personal experiences and my professional goals into meaningful impact. Supporting this cause means helping families navigate some of the hardest moments of their lives and pushing forward the research and care that can change outcomes. That's why this work matters so deeply to me. I would sincerely appreciate you joining me on this journey and helping this cause in any way that you can.
