On April 20, Open Doors returned to The Loading Dock for our annual Gala and Auction. This year was particularly special as we honored the students of Feeding 500 as our 2023 Luminary Award recipients.

Over the past three years, this student-led organization brought together more than 100 high schoolers across Darien, New Canaan, and Wilton to support Open Doors' kitchen and grocery pantry. Each member of Feeding 500 has given their time and creativity to help provide thousands of meals through food drives, fundraising, and volunteer hours.

This year, the founders of Feeding 500 graduated high school, moving on to new endeavors, and passing this incredible program on to the next generation of students. Darien chapter president Lucy Brennan stated in her acceptance speech, "I grew up in a family where we learned that you didn't give to get; instead, you get to give." That spirit of generosity, community, and enthusiasm infuses all of the wonderful work that these students do to help provide food for our neighbors.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make a difference in our community through your support! While the Gala only happens once a year, there are opportunities every day to do something good.

For 40 years, Open Doors has been a resource for people dealing with poverty and homelessness in the greater Norwalk area. With the support of our community, we help our neighbors on the path to housing stability.
