Give Every Child Access to Learn through Play

The Children’s Museum strives to provide every child with the chance to play, learn, and explore in a stimulating, hands-on environment.

Your gift to CMoR's Access for All program will directly benefit financially disadvantaged children in our community:

  • $50 provides a group visit for a daycare center serving low-income children
  • $149 provides an economically challenged family with a one-year membership
  • $250 provides an educational field trip for two Head Start classes
  • $1,000 allows an entire grade level from a low-income neighborhood to visit the museum and participate in an educational program

About the Children's Museum

Since 1981, the Children's Museum has provided interactive programs, exhibits, and services for children that integrate early childhood development, parent education, and literacy. As the first cultural organization that many children visit, CMoR creates innovative learning experiences for all children and complements the educational efforts made in school systems, child care centers, and homes. Since its inception, nearly three million children, ages 0-8, and their families from Richmond and throughout Virginia have explored interactive, educational experiences that have stimulated their interest in art, science, and the humanities.

CMoR special events throughout the year that highlight the diversity of the Richmond community and celebrate cultural traditions, in addition to promoting school readiness through museum education. The Museum also has a strong commitment to accessibility for children from underserved communities and those with disabilities. As a not-for-profit organization, CMoR continually breaks down financial barriers to make sure all families have the opportunity to learn and play at its locations in Downtown Richmond and Chesterfield.

The Children's Museum operates two locations.

  • CMoR Downtown at 2626 W. Broad Street in Richmond
  • CMoR Chesterfield at 6629 Lake Harbour Drive in Midlothian
