Halleck Creek Ranch has long been known for retiring and retaining ownership of the horses who serve in our programs, ensuring that they receive the proper love and care needed for a happy, healthy life.
Over the years, as our programs have grown, so too has our need for more horses. While we actively seek younger horses to fill the shoes of the retired ones, our herd still has an average age of 23, which - in the horse world - some would consider "over the hill". As you can imagine, there are inherent additional expenses incurred when caring for an older herd, including specialized feed and care, and daily medications.
Routine care and maintenance of each of our horses costs about $3,000 each year.
