You are bidding on a Guest Sail for Six on the ferry sloop Woody Guthrie. You and your five guests will join captain Steve Schwartz and the crew of Pete Seeger's other wooden sloop for a sail on Newburgh Bay.

Learn about sailing, the river, and its environs from the Beacon Sloop Club's knowledgeable crew, or just kick back an enjoy the beautiful Hudson.

The Woody Guthrie, a replica of the popular gaff-rigged Hudson River sloop from days of yore, has since 1978 been in service to the public in the form of free rides and education five weekday evenings a week.

Built for Pete in 1978 by the Bearsville Woodworking Cooperative, the Woody embodies Pete's vision of local community access and involvement in the Hudson River.

The Experience

You and your five guests will join captain Steve Schwartz and the crew of Pete Seeger's other wooden sloop.

Where: leave from Beacon Harbor for a sail on Newburgh Bay.

What you'll see: Dennings Point, Bannerman's Island and castle, Storm King and the gateway to the highlands

About the Woody Guthrie

Built for Pete Seeger in 1978 by the Bearsville Woodworking Cooperative,

Designed by Cy Hamlin, at approximately 1/3 size of the Clearwater

Named in honor of his friend and folk legend Woody Guthrie

The Woody embodies Pete's vision of local community access and involvement in the Hudson River.
