In honor of TWFE's 30th Anniversary our wonderful friend, CHRISTINA TURLEY, has put
together an "anniversary" lot of her own that celebrating Turley's origin, preservation, and the
road ahead. The lot includes THREE PAIRS OF MAGNUMS-one Zinfandel and one Petite
Syrah per pair-that are 5, 10, and 15 years of age. Though Turley Wine Cellars now works with
over 50 vineyards all across the Golden State, each of these single vineyard wines comes from
the place where they got their start, where they continue to work to this day, and where they call
home: the Napa Valley.
15-YEAR PAIR OF TURLEY MAGNUMS from MOORE EARTHQUAKE and HAYNE VINEYARDS:
These vineyards are an integral part of Turley's "origin" story. They are old vine Napa sites that were
both made in the very 1st vintage. Moore-nicknamed "Earthquake" since the vines were planted in
1906-is located at 1600 feet up on Atlas Peak. The Hayne, planted in 1953, sits in one of the most
coveted, iconic, and ideal sites in St Helena in the heart of Napa Valley.
10-YEAR PAIR OF TURLEY MAGNUMS from TURLEY'S ESTATE VINEYARD: Simultaneously
representing the past, present, and future, the certified organic Estate vineyard is also the Turley
family home. The Estate is now part of the Land Trust of Napa, meaning the land is forever
protected. Given how quickly Zinfandel has disappeared around the valley in favor of big-ticket
Cabernet, the Turley's can rest more easily knowing these head-trained, dry-farmed Zinfandel
vines will remain in perpetuity in the beloved Napa Valley.
5-YEAR PAIR OF TURLEY MAGNUMS from HAYNE and LIBRARY VINEYARDS: Like the
Petite Syrah, the Hayne Zinfandel was one of Turley's very first wines. Planted in 1902, it is easily
the most blue-chip Zin they make, and the closest thing to a Grand Cru site in California. The
Library Vineyard is significant as well. Not only is it close to their hearts, sitting as it does adjacent
to the public library in downtown St Helena, but it is also one of the most varietally diverse sites in
the United States. Library was planted between 1880-1920 to over 25 known grape varieties, all
of which Turley has further propagated on their protected Estate property to ensure they endure
for many years to come.
Of course, we can't mention Turley without bringing up our MAD DAWGS. In memory of our
friend in wine and all things Frankie Lemmon, John Dickson, the Mad Dawgs have donated a
truly remarkable TWELVE BOTTLE collection of Turley, a tradition they've kept alive for nearly
two decades!
