About the Charity
ElderCare of Alachua County is the lead agency for senior services. They receive Federal, State, Alachua County, City of Gainesville, and United Way dollars to provide the many services that are so needed to seniors. Additionally, ElderCare relies heavily on private donors and fundraisers to maintain and expand its current services. Those services include programs Meals on Wheels, Alz' Place (Adult Day Care), Independence with Low Vision, and home and community-based services., such as homemaking, personal care and respite. ElderCare also provides the Freedom in Motion program which in partnership with the City of Gainesville, Chamber of Commerce, and Uber provides affordable transportation for seniors. In addition, we also operate the Senior Recreation Center which now has more than 9,000 members.
