Support our Fund-A-Need: Here at The Friends School of Atlanta, we believe in the power of play. Research shows play can improve a child's ability to plan, organize, get along with others, and regulate emotions. Active play is fundamentally important for learning 21st-century skills, such as problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity. Thus, we are excited to announce that this year's Fund-A-Needwill support the construction of a new embankment slide! This project is in partnership with the East Decatur Greenway and provides additional ways for children, and adults to access this beautiful greenspace directly adjacent to FSA's campus.

It's a beautiful fall day and kids are loving the change in temps. The air is cooler and smells of earth and all that any of us want to do is be outdoors and PLAY!

School life balances academics and fun in a way that optimizes both. The social curriculum is as important to our community as any aspect of our Friends school and THE SLIDE now takes center stage in fostering friendly connections and providing JOY to students and adults alike.

Meet me at THE SLIDE! During middle school exploratories, at morning recess and after school - let's go play! Decades of research confirms what kids have known forever, that playing together can improve their ability to learn, plan, organize, regulate emotions and get along with others. Active play is fundamentally important for learning 21st century skills, such as problem solving, collaboration, and creativity.

This year's Fund-A-Need will support the construction of a new embankment slide! The project is in partnership with the East Decatur Greenway and provides additional ways for children and adults to access this beautiful greenspace FSA is so fortunate to call part of its campus.

An embankment slide is super safe since it's not raised off the ground BUT with the angle of the slope between FSA's southern border and the Greenway, the 40-foot slide will provide for some speed and an exciting journey down into the Greenway for kids of all ages! Yes, friends, adults will be welcome to come play, too!

Construction of the slide and a landscaped stairway will cost approximately $25,000. Dig deep and help FSA make this dream a reality!
