Atlanta Youth Academy
For 26 years Atlanta Youth Academy (AYA) has provided an academically rigorous, Christian education for urban children and youth from all across the Atlanta area whose families recognize the importance of education but who do not have access either financially or geographically to excellent schools. Here at AYA we train students as learners, thinkers, leaders, and persons of moral and spiritual character - possessing exceptional strength and integrity. We are producing exactly what society needs, at a time when society desperately needs it, and we intend to continue that tradition. However, in these unprecedented times, we will require unprecedented help.
Since 1997, AYA has demonstrated what committed individuals can accomplish - dedicated faculty and staff who work tirelessly on behalf of their students, community supporters whose generosity supplies over 92% of our annual operating budget and families who sacrifice so their children can attend. Despite a median household income of less than $18,000, every family pays 8% of household income for tuition. In an environment where we must raise an average of $15,000 per student annually to cover the cost of education, we have "normal" financial challenges. AYA has united TOGETHER to ensure that our students will receive every possible opportunity to learn and grow that we are able to provide. TOGETHER, much is possible!
Benefit Auction Celebrates 19 Years
The AYA Benefit Auction is our school's most critical fundraiser. Last year's auction proved to be our most successful event ever! More than 500 supporters gathered together in-person and participated virtually from all across the country to make this year's event surpass all expectation. AYA had unbelievable success in executing a virtual auction during the pandemic. To ensure participation by all, this year's auction will once again be held both in-person and virtually on December 4th.
We believe we owe it to our kids to help secure their future. To accomplish that, we need your support more than ever. Whether it's your time, your talents, your item contributions, your sponsorship, or your direct financial support, your help makes a difference, one child at a time. Every dollar raised will directly fund scholarships for students to continue their education at AYA and this year, more than ever before, the scholarship support will be critical.
AYA president Peter Rooney points out, "Almost every one of our students would not have access to a quality education without this support. So many individuals, businesses, and organizations donate items and experiences to ensure our students can continue to receive the best educational experiences possible. We will be forever grateful to our contributors for their incredible generosity."
