The quilts I made this year center on the Alison Glass Art Theory Night and Day, Abacus, Ex Libris, and Sun Print fabrics. I picked them for the rainbow of colors the focus fabrics offer, and because those big, bright circles are teeming with energy and joy. It's that energy and joy that GSAFE brings to their work, and to the schools, staff, and students they serve in supporting and creating safe spaces where our LGBTQ+ students can belong, be seen, thrive, and find joy. ( I did throw in a rainbow chicken wire fabric - there's joy in that, too - and one Mr. Domestic fabric because he has also been an advocate for racial justice and LGBTQ+ and donated to this event in the past.) The bright orange binding really pops the design. Gorgeous quilting pattern around the borders.

Artist Statement:

I believe in and appreciate the work the GSAFE does in our local community and across the state, as an educator, leader, and parent. I am a longtime supporter of GSAFE and donated an art quilt to the silent auction at the May Celebration of Leadership several years ago. I'm happy to be able to donate quilts this year, and that my 16 year-old (who has attended the Celebration of Leadership the past two years as well) has also made a quilt top to donate this year.
