LOCAL WATERS

Central Texas offers a variety of unique angling opportunities year around. Local rivers allow anglers to explore miles of fishable water and find solitude even near urban centers. Natural springs and tail waters enable access even in years of drought and low water. Target species include Guadalupe bass (the state fish of Texas), large mouth bass, trout, carp, gar, freshwater drum, and a variety of sunfish species.

GUADALUPE RIVER TAILWATER
With cold water releasing from Canyon Lake dam, the Guadalupe River tailwater is the southern most trout stream in the United States. Just outside of New Braunfels, this special fishery receives generous stockings from Texas Parks and Wildlife Department along with the Guadalupe River Trout Unlimited chapter. Target species include both rainbow and brown trout. This is a unique opportunity for a trout fishing experience in the heart of Texas. The Texas trout "season" typically runs from November through late spring.
