Soroka continuously plans for the future, working to advance the field of Urology and improve patient experience and outcomes, with Phase 1 currently underway. It provides significant new equipment to position Soroka to become a center of excellence in Urology. The facility is in a "protected area" and will be able to continue its operation during times of military escalations. The project includes significant plans for staff advancement and education, establishes a pathway for the development and testing of technical innovations, deepening collaborations with biochemistry and immunology scientists at Ben Gurion University, and a dedicated research laboratory.
Phase 2 will consist of the design and construction of a new, state-of-the-art building. The three pillars of Academic Urology at Soroka are Research, Education, and Clinical Care with a patient-oriented perspective. Creating a distinguished home for the Urology Department and related specialties will position Soroka for further excellence and advancement in fulfilling our vision, in the service of our patients. The new Urology Institute Building will have five floors: 1) Urology department, 2) Urology outpatient clinics and procedure suites, 3) Nephrology department & Research unit, 4) Dialysis units - Adult & Pediatric (first for the Negev) and transplant unit (Fifth floor reserved for future use).
