Well known and loved Cedarburg artist Paul Yank & his daughter Karen Yank have donated this beautiful 10 x 10 aluminum cast wall relief. The creation date is unknown, making it more valuable. Yank started his professional career as a sculptor about 60 years ago. He was selected as sculptor-in-residence for Milwaukee's natural history museum in 1958 through a nationwide competition. In that eight-year role, Yank thoroughly studied cultural anthropology as he designed and created three-dimensional displays for what is now known as the Milwaukee Public Museum. Yank's subject matter derives from a variety of global civilizations. Cultures of American Indian, Australian Aborigine, Celtic, Italy, China, Japan, Nigeria, Mayan civilization, and Greek
mythology all play a role in Yank's artwork. Similarities throughout cultures can be found with symbols of fertility or life-giving creatures or dragons that are common to ancient Celtic and Chinese cultures.
