About the Item
This piece is a bronze cast skeleton hand holding a dead song bird. This sculpture is cast using the lost wax casting process, utilizing low melt process in resin bond sand mold.
About the item, Vanek says "This piece was inspired by the discovery of a dead song bird on my way into work one day. The bird was lying outside of the foundry where I work/teach and I felt like honoring its efforts. I took a rubber mold of the dead bird and replicated this in wax, then combined the wax bird with a wax skeleton hand to make the initial pattern."
