Keva Richardson, Lovegrass Graphite, tracing paper, & inkjet print on unprimed canvas, 9" x 12" framed

While creating this piece I thought about how wearing a mask should be seen as a protector of life, an opportunity for us to unify out of respect, urgency, and love for one another. Instead this fragile piece of cloth, meant for safety, has become another symbol of division in our country.

Throughout this pandemic, I relished the unexpected opportunity to meditate on the natural beauty all around me. As I intently watched winter become spring, and spring become summer, I prayed that the seeds of love would spread across the United States and envelop it in its tenderness. I still do.
