Nurses are also leaders, innovators, educators, and advocates, who shape the future of health care and society.
The impact of such a nursing shortage is alarming. Without nurses, access to healthcare is limited, services are rationed, and the health of patients and communities suffer.
Simply put, we must find innovative solutions to address the nursing shortage to achieve a future where health is simple, affordable, equitable, and exceptional. Such solutions must be bi-directional in nature - aiming on both early recruitment into the profession and sustaining efforts to retain nurses within the profession.
At Corewell Health Greenville Hospital we aim to help change the trajectory of our local nursing workforce through the John M. Higgins Nurse Endowment. This endowment provides an opportunity for nurse-generated ideas to increase education, provide empowerment opportunities, enhance well-being, and promote workplace safety.
