NEXT Steps
Join us on Saturday evening, November 2nd for NEXT Steps - Our sixth anniversary gala to raise funds for our educational and concert dance initiatives empowering youth and audiences through access, equity, and the transformative power of the arts. This year, we celebrate what is coming NEXT for Accent Dance NYC and for the NEXT generation of creative leaders whom we are nurturing every day through our educational and professional initiatives.
One of the evening's highlights will be a live performance of our latest work by choreographer Danielle Diniz through NEXT, our emerging choreographer commissioning program. This new work explores the immigrant experience and fuses elements of contemporary ballet, musical theater, and other dance traditions. Diniz's work also will be the inspiration for new educational programming giving students an insider's perspective on the choreographer, her story, and how she used that story to create a dance with universal appeal. Students will learn segments of Diniz's original work and create a new student-led dance collaboration to be rehearsed and performed before an audience of family, friends, teachers, and peers.
The festive evening of cocktails, dinner, and a live auction will feature our community partners sharing the stage with our professional ensemble, culminating in an accessible dance workshop.
Help us reach our NEXT steps and our fundraising goal of $100,000 so we can bring our dance residencies and multicultural educational performances to our NEXT partner schools as well as showcase engaging new works from the NEXT generation of choreographers.
If you cannot make the event, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to support Accent Dance NYC's important work!
