The St. John the Baptist School Golf Outing is a 9-hole competition that uses a shotgun start 4-person (best ball) Scramble format.
What is a scramble?
All four players on a team will contribute to the score of their team rather than each individual.
How do you play in a scramble?
All four team members tee off on each hole. Together the team decides which tee shot they like the best. The best ball is then marked on the spot with a tee or ball marker.
The other team members pick up their balls and place them within one club length (no closer to the hole) of the marked spot. Each team member then hits their next shot from the chosen spot.
This process follows on every shot for the remainder of the holes, including putts.
Putts need to be made within 3 inches of the marked spot (no closer to the hole). The first ball to go in the hole is counted for the team score.
When can I buy a ticket as a golfer or a spectator?
Registration is open now until September 2nd.
What time is the shotgun start (tee off)?
Noon on Sunday, September 8th, 2024.
What hole do I start at and when?
The team's opening hole will be assigned at the start of the Golf Open upon check-in. Shortly before noon, the Golf Outing Team will announce the rules and next steps. Following the announcement, drive to your assigned hole and tee off at NOON (the shotgun start time).
- Drivers assigned to golf only half of the course, either the front or the back nine.
- Ex: If assigned to the front 9 holes, participants will golf only the front 9 (holes 1-9). If starting on hole 7, participants would golf hole 7, 8, 9, then circle back to holes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, to finish on hole 6.
What if I do not have a team of 4 people to play with?
No problem! We welcome and encourage individual, couples, or groups of three. Golfers will be paired up with other attendees to form a 4-person team. Teams will be shared at registration.
Will there be games or raffles at the event?
- Yes! There are games available to both golfers and spectators including: 50/50 raffle, on course games, and bucket raffles.
Will there be a rain date?
No, there will not be a rain date. Golf will be played rain or shine.
Will I receive a tax donation receipt for my purchase or donation?
- Yes, all purchases and donations will be e-mailed a tax donation receipt to the email registered on this Golf Outing Give Smart profile shortly after the outing concludes.
Are you taking donations from outside businesses or community members?
- We will accept donations from SJB parish members, school families, and alumni for the Golf Outing. Since we will be hosting a school auction soon, we do not want to overburden our community with multiple donation requests.
- To make a financial donation, please use the DONATE NOW or purchase a SPONSORSHIP on this website.
- If you are willing to donate an item, please fill out the DONATE AN ITEM form on this page. Items can be dropped off at the Parish Office during normal business hours until August 30th. Items donated will be used as raffle baskets or prizes at the event.
