Come celebrate the 6th annual fundraiser to support the Gilchrist Music Therapy program. Gilchrist's very own music therapy team will return to the stage, in person, to bring you an amazing afternoon of music inspired by our patients and families. The afternoon will also include a dessert reception, door prizes and raffles. We hope to see you there!
Featuring
The Bel Air Community Band Jazz Ensemble
In 1998, the Bel Air Community Band formed the Bel Air Community Band Jazz Ensemble, an 18-piece jazz band in the mode of the Big Bands of the '30's and 40's. Under the direction of Richard Hauf, the jazz ensemble plays throughout Harford County for community events.
Individuals with life-limiting illnesses can often benefit from creative art therapies designed to ease discomfort, improve communication and provide an outlet for expression. Music therapy, combined with the medical attention and interventions of the hospice team, can help improve quality of life by relieving symptoms and addressing needs related to the end of life.
Many people are not aware that music therapy does not receive direct reimbursement for services provided. The program relies solely on generous donations received through special grants and private gifts. As one family member shared, "I couldn't imagine hospice without music therapy." All the proceeds from these special events help continue funding the necessary work of our music therapy team in providing comfort, support and joy to our patients and families through music.
The work of music therapy is 100% funded through the generosity of our donors. Through the generosity of our donors and the support of Gilchrist, the Music Therapy program has grown over the years to three full-time board-certified music therapists and made a huge difference to our patients and families.
