About the Course - Union League Liberty Hill

The 2024 St. Francis de Sales Classic will be played on one of the area's finest and most exclusive private country clubs - Union League Liberty Hill in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.  Formerly the ACE Club Liberty Hill was designed a 311-acre site by Gary Player in 2002. The course measures 7,500 from the tips and features five tee placements on each hole. Player incorporated rolling typography, meandering streams, shimmering lakes, vast swatches of mature trees, open spaces, pristine wetland habitat, natural rock outcroppings and historic architectural sites. Its design, engineering and maintenance strategy make the course environmentally friendly, earning the elite Silver Signature Series designation in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program.

Union League Liberty Hill also offers a two-tiered driving range, ProV1 golf balls and six target greens, an oversize putting green as well as two additional acres dedicated to iron and wedge practice and bunkers.

THE BISHOP JOSEPH MCFADDEN AWARD FOR SERVICE TO THE CHURCH AND CATHOLIC EDUCATION

PRESENTED BY THE SAINT FRANCIS DE SALES SCHOOL COMMUNITY

Pat and Nancy Boyle

Pat and Nancy Boyle have blessed the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia and Catholic Education with their gift of service to others, particularly children.

Individually, Pat served as a distinguished member of the Philadelphia Police Department for 38 years, from 1966 to 2004, retiring at the rank of Detective. Equally dedicated, Nancy (nee Smith) ministered as a Registered Nurse for over 48 years, starting in 1970 at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital and retiring from Jeanes Hospital in 2018. The couple had two children and are currently the grandparents of Quinn, Patrick, and Harper.

Pat and Nancy raised Daniel and Kathleen as their children. Not surprisingly, these children followed their parents' example of service toward others.

Kathleen Boyle Wrigley is an award-winning advocate for victims' rights. She is serving children as a social worker and school counselor. Kathleen and her family live in North Dakota.

In February of 1991, Pat and Nancy's son Danny, a 21-year-old rookie officer in the Philadelphia Police Department, was tragically killed on duty in service protecting the community. In honor of their son, Pat and Nancy created The Officer Daniel Boyle Scholarship Fund. Pat currently serves as President of the Scholarship Fund.

The purpose of the Fund is to honor Danny's memory and financially provide tuition assistance to needy students and their families enrolled in Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese. The breadth of the Fund has gifted families with tuition assistance throughout the Archdiocese, both at the high school and elementary school levels. Thousands of dollars were spent and hundreds of families benefited from the steadfast gifts of service from Pat and Nancy's endeavors and the Funds' commitment to Catholic education. The entire Saint Francis de Sales Community has benefitted from the great generosity of Pat and Nancy Boyle and The Officer Daniel Boyle Scholarship Fund.

The Bishop Joseph McFadden Award for Service to the Church and Catholic Education recognizes a cleric, religious, or lay person who has given their time, talent, and treasure in service to God's People, especially in the form of promoting Catholic Education at its many levels. Bishop McFadden was a beloved lay teacher and basketball coach in a Catholic High School before becoming a priest. As an ordained priest, Bishop McFadden again placed his talents at the service of Parishes, Bishops, and especially young people. He worked tirelessly to foster the Christian Education of youth and did it with his usual Irish charm. We chose to associate this annual Award with our Golf Outing, knowing that Bishop McFadden loved the game of golf.
