with Miki Chen
Fair Market Value: Priceless
Starting Bid: $50.00
Project: "The Dots by Kindergarten Artists"
2023, Oil Pastel, Watercolor, 24" x 32"
Description: Kindergarten artists created the dots at the beginning of the school year using oil pastels and watercolors. We first read the book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds and discussed what to do when we are afraid of trying something new or believe that we are not good at art.
"Just give it a try, and maybe the ideas will come to you!"
Each student created a dot with oil pastel paint and filled the blank space with watercolor. As they filled the canvas, they learned that not being good at something the first time doesn't mean that you will never be able to achieve it. And you never know what beauty can unfold if you stick with it.

About Classic Kids
We aren't just another photography company.
We're a special little family, born more than twenty-five years ago from the vision of a new mom in pursuit of her own happiness and passion. Julie Floyd, then a successful tax attorney, dreamt of a job where she could play with children and practice her art all while capturing treasured moments in people's lives. So she followed her dreams and never looked back.
One of the best things about Classic Kids is that every person on our team has this inherent happiness and passion.
Many a late night latte has been shared discussing the perfect peek a boo (you must hit that first syllable hard!) and debating the subtleties of the monkey antics most likely to elicit belly laughs.

About the Tour & Recording Session
This is a priceless opportunity to tour Hell's Kitchen's iconic and closed-to-the-public recording studio. Led by Brett Mayer, HWIS parent and the husband of one of HudsonWay's own beloved teachers, Ms. Gwen, your family can view the legendary stomping grounds where of some of the music industry's most inspiring and influential artists, Broadway cast members, and Pixar movie soundtracks record the songs that score the moments of our lives and tug at our heart stings.
And by the way, while you're there, your child can record their own song. Or why not even channel the Von Trapp brood and lay down your own family track!
About the Studios
A landmark public-private-nonprofit partnership bringing together Berklee, the City of New York, musician/investor Pete Muller, and members of the Founder's Advisory Board formed to revitalize the historic Power Station Studios on West 53rd Street. The building was originally built as a Con-Edison power relay station, which provided power to Manhattan's elevated train, which has since been converted into the High Line. The recording studios-where Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Tony Bennett, Lady Gaga, David Bowie, Madonna, Herbie Hancock, Esperanza Spalding, Bob Dylan, the cast of Hamilton, and many others recorded iconic albums- has been transformed into a state-of-the-art recording and video production facility for the city's music, theater, television, and film industries, as well as a campus for Berklee to provide music and performing arts education just blocks from Broadway.

New York Knicks Game for 2
$525New York Knicks 2024-2025 regular season game at Madison Square Garden for (2)

Starting Bid: $350.00
Section: 108
Row: 3
Seats: 9-10
Section 108 is in the lower bowl, behind the Knicks' bench. Row 3 (pictured) is three rows above the Delta Sky360 Club Seats. Includes access to MSG's North & South VIP Entrances on 31st and 33rd Streets (between Seventh/Eighth) and in-seat food-and-beverage service.
Please note the blackout games listed below.
Terms & Conditions
- Game selection subject to availability; winning bidder will receive a list of available 2024-2025 regular season games from which to choose by Oct/Nov 2024. Not intended for resale.
- Blackout games are subject to free agency updates and currently include--but are not limited to--Bucks, Celtics, Cavaliers, Clippers, Grizzlies, Hawks, Heat, Kings, Lakers, Mavericks, Nuggets, Pacers, Pelicans, 76ers, Suns, Warriors, Timberwolves and Thunder.
HWIS Connection: When Carlyle Peake left the Pacers off of his 2023-2024 list of blackout games, he had no idea he would be unwittingly donating two seats in the best game of the season (as of February 1, 2024) on behalf of last year's fundraising cause. To add insult to injury, the tickets were auctioned for a steal! Despite moping through most of February 2nd, and with more than a little coaxing from his wife, he has begrudgingly handed over another pair of seats in the 2024-2025 season to help HWISPA raise money for Experiential Updates. Carlyle has been a diehard Knicks fan and often-depressed, albeit loyal season ticket holder through their darkest periods (frequently forcing Katie to remain in the arena to the bitter end of painful blowout after painful blowout). So please help us honor his service and sacrifice, especially now that they're having one of their best seasons... in decades. What. A. Freaking. Game.
NOTE: The Pacers have now replaced the Nets in the list of blackout games for next season.

About the Designer
Filthy Mari Atelier, an AAPI woman-owned small business, came to life during the pandemic in the founder's NYC kitchen. Marisa's usual work as an event contractor disappeared during lockdown and one day, after almost a year of trying to find her way, she decided to get curious and have fun. She invested in some supplies and let her creative and artistic side run wild, and as a girl whose time spent with Play-Doh, it's really paying off. She's so grateful to have found something to help her work through through anxieties. Now she has the space to make the things she loves that hopefully you will, too. Always made with love, care and attention to detail and thankfully now in a proper work area, she has since moved into the corner of her bedroom, where she made a corner office. This shop is eco-friendly, uses recyclable/reusable packaging, is minimum waste and donates a portion of proceeds to charity.

$725$1,000-Gift Certificate at The Ivory Peacock Bar
In benefit of HWISPA-NY
Fair Market Value: $1000.00
Starting Bid: $500.00
About the Venue
As renovations began at 38 West 26th Street, we uncovered an unexpected "lucky charm" nestled beneath years of drywall-an illustration of a majestic peacock rendered ivory.
We knew the white peacock, a rare and gentle bird with a powerfully protective nature, symbolized good fortune in certain cultures. And once we recognized this lucky emblem had graced the storied walls of our chosen home-The Ivory Peacock began to take flight.
Perched within Manhattan's Flatiron and NoMad neighborhoods, The Ivory Peacock pays homage to its original location, which boasts 139 years of history as a bona fide neighborhood destination. About BETWEEN HARLEM & HEAVEN
In two of the most renowned and historic venues in Harlem, Alexander Smalls and JJ Johnson created a unique take on the Afro-Asian-American flavor profile. Their foundation was a collective three decades of traveling the African diaspora, meeting and eating with chefs of color, and researching the wide reach of a truly global cuisine; their inspiration was how African, Asian, and African-American influences criss-crossed cuisines all around the world. They present here for the first time over 100 recipes that go beyond just one place, taking you, as noted by The New Yorker, "somewhere between Harlem and heaven."
About THE SIMPLE ART OF RICE
The Simple Art of Rice is a celebration of rice and the many cultures in which this life-giving grain takes pride of place at the center of every table. The recipes are influenced by these global flavors from Asia to Europe, Africa to the Americas, and feature many of the world's favorite dishes. With Danica Novgorodoff, Chef JJ takes readers on an informative and exciting culinary adventure that will help anyone master the art of cooking rice.

HWIS Connection: Michelle Henry has been a friend of Katie & Carlyle Peake (HWIS Parents, Mandarin Grade 2 & Incoming Kindergartener) ever since she inadvertently crashed their fifth or seventh date; debate over the actual number is ongoing. Ten years later, she annually screens them for skin cancer and regularly injects Katie's slowly spreading crow's feet with Botox. While she is a trusted dermatologist on the national morning show circuit, if she happens to look especially familiar, it's because she and Beyonce recently had something in common.
