Correspondence Writer, Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Atlanta

Nick Kostopoulos is, first and foremost, a writer-which of course means that he agonized as he crafted this bio. He is also a proud former FOCUS kid and is sure that his Camp Hollywood days were an important influence in solidifying his love of movies. This eventually led to his earning a BFA in Writing for Screen and Television from the University of Southern California (the alma mater of one George Lucas, whose "Star Wars" films were a regular Camp Hollywood theme). When Nick is not writing or logging his daily film views in a specially created Word document, he is usually listening to music of all kinds; and so, he can often be found at Atlanta Symphony Hall, where he is both a season subscriber and a member of its young professionals' group, BRAVO. Nick has served on BRAVO's Leadership Committee for the past seven seasons.

I was in 9th grade when a friend, Ashley Bruce, asked me to join her in serving as junior counselors at Camp Infinity. I begrudgingly agreed as she assured me it "wouldn't be as hard as it sounds." It was exactly as hard as it sounded! But it also ended up being the most fun I had all summer. My week at camp quickly snowballed into volunteering at Saturday Respites, Camp Team and Camp Hollywood, and going on teen group outings throughout my high school and college years. Along the way, I made lasting friends and found a passion for helping people reach their fullest potential. FOCUS opened my eyes and led me to pursue a career in nursing. Since earning my BSN and MSN degrees, I've been lucky enough to be able to work at camps and with FOCUS as a staff nurse as often as my schedule allows. I am so grateful to all the "kids" who've befriended me, challenged me, and laughed at my shenanigans, and to the FOCUS families who have trusted me and welcomed me into their lives. It has been an honor to share the journey. Since that very first night at camp, FOCUS has never been far from my heart (or my weekend and summer plans!)
