In Honor of Christine Nguyen
Any AmountChristine Nguyen started volunteering with FOCUS as a freshman in high school. Since then, she graduated with honors from Kennesaw State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She then pursued her career as an ICU nurse and worked through the pandemic as a travel nurse. She eventually opened her dream bubble tea shop. However, through the several life paths she took, one thing never changed: her commitment to being a part of the FOCUS family. Prior to becoming a FOCUS camp nurse, Christine would volunteer for FOCUS respite programs and workshops. Her experience also includes helping as a camp counselor and using her limited science skills to help campers make fairy globe lights and vinegar volcanoes.
Christine's enthusiasm for FOCUS comes from the many cherished memories she's made over the several years of bonding with FOCUS families and staff. Whether it's listening to a camper's knee-slapping jokes or watching them catch fish off the pier of Camp Twin Lakes, Christine has always kept these magical moments close to her heart. Christine is constantly reminded of the strength of humans when she is around the FOCUS kids. At the end of every Camp Hollywood she volunteers for, you could often find her tearing up while singing "What I Am" by Will.I.am.
Today, she continues to support FOCUS by volunteering as a camp nurse while also leading fundraising efforts and raising awareness through her brick-and-mortar shop, Rebel Teahouse. Recently, Christine and her partner successfully applied for a grant to install an automatic push button to improve accessibility for FOCUS families and other members of the community. Christine and her team at Rebel Teahouse are incredibly excited to sponsor the For the Love of Children gala, and we appreciate all of their support!
