Dig World Machine Safety: Safety at Dig World is our number 1 priority. Without safety protocols, Dig World wouldn't exist! While customers will get the opportunity to operate REAL Caterpillar machinery, we have worked with mechanics to modify the capabilities of each machine to ensure everyone's safety. We require seatbelts to be engaged before any machine operation can occur. The speeds on drivable machines have been governed, and other equipment utilizes hydraulic limitations to reduce total movement.

With a strong feminine presence in our artistic vision, we strive to feature the work of female playwrights, actors, and directors, which promotes the empowerment of women through the performing arts.

Mildred's Umbrella began in 2001 when local actress Jennifer Decker and playwright John Harvey brought together a group of artists and actors to create a collaborative theatrical piece written by Harvey and directed by Decker. Since then, the company has grown into a fixture of Houston's performing arts community. Known for bringing edgy, new work to Houston and pushing the envelope of theatre, Mildred's Umbrella uses the art form to explore our world and present audiences with thought-provoking works. Now in its thirteenth full season, the company has produced a variety of pieces including mainstage, full-length plays, theatrical works in conjunction with lectures at the University of Houston, Fringe Festival pieces, and Museum of Dysfunction, a popular festival showcase of short originals currently in its ninth iteration. Mildred's Umbrella's recent seasons have been highly successful, with sold-out shows for three regional premieres, one world premiere, and three original pieces presented by the company, earning quotes from the press, such as "fitfully fascinating" (Houston Chronicle - The Flu Season), "kicky, clever and utterly unpredictable" (The Houston Chronicle - Margo Veil), "strangely compelling and funny…glorious, absurd contours" (Houston Arts Week - Night of the Giant).

WHAT AGE RANGE IS APPROPRIATE FOR THE MUSEUM?
Our main exhibits will have toys from the 1800s all the way through the new millennium, so no matter their age, our guests are almost guaranteed to see something from their own childhood. While the Houston Toy Museum is not technically a children's museum, we have added an interactive play space where younger children can have some fun. Most of our exhibits will showcase vintage toys behind glass and while we hope that the kids will enjoy seeing and learning about the toys their parents and grandparents played with, we understand that it isn't fair to make them look at a bunch of toys they can't touch without giving them a change to play! Our interactive play space will have a soft play area for toddlers, giant games, and activities for older children, and even some interactive fun for the adults.

CAN I BRING MY STROLLER?
Our main exhibits are located on the second flood, which is accessible only by stairs. We understand that you may have your stroller with you since we are located on such a walkable street so we have a limited area by the stairs for you to "park" your stroller while you visit the upstairs exhibits. If it is possible, we encourage visitors to leave their strollers in their cars.

ACCESSIBILITY
Unfortunately our location is not ADA accessible at this time. Our building was originally constructed in the 1940s and with that comes challenges in creating a completely accessible space. Our main exhibits are on the second floor, which at this time is only accessible by stairs. While it is our desire to welcome anyone into the museum, we understand that this could pose challenges for some and we hope to be able to invest in making our space more accessible in the future.
