Golfers Tee Off for Cure Research at Don Strock Diabetes Golf Classic, Raising Over $130K

Former Miami Dolphins quarterback Don Strock led more than 75 golfers onto the course at Miccosukee Golf and Country Club in West Kendall on May 1st for the 39th Annual Don Strock Diabetes Golf Classic. Retired NFL players among the mix included Nat Moore, John Offerdahl, Heisman Trophy winner Gino Torretta, Troy Drayton, Terry Kirby, Ed Newman, Lorenzo Hampton, Jed Weaver, Dave Rackley, John Harris, Don McNeal, and Hall of Famer Dan Marino. 

Following the round, players enjoyed a cocktail reception and dinner program, during which Strock gave accolades to tournament chair Bruce Fishbein and the hardworking committee composed mainly of members of the produce industry. Members of the Committee included Michael Cohen, Norman Heinrich, Bruce Schumin, Doug Tannehill, and Joe Vega. Proceeds totaled more than $130,000 for the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation.
