OUR MISSION

One in five American children face food insecurity. During the school week, most of these children depend on the federal free and reduced meal program their school offers. Sometimes, the meals at school are the only ones they get. When school closes its doors on Friday afternoon, many of these children go home to empty cupboards and empty bellies for 65 hours, until they return to school on Monday morning. Who will feed the kids this weekend? We will.

Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals, and resources to provide food on the weekends for school children across America who might otherwise go hungry. Over the course of the 2022-2023 school year Blessings in a Backpack provided over 261,516 hunger-free weekends to more than 6,800 children in 55 Louisville schools. Sadly, it's estimated that almost 80,000 children suffer from food insecurity in Louisville. As little as $150 per year you can provide hunger-free weekends to a child.

PACK THE SACK 2024 GAMES

At our event, we believe that every game played has the power to make a real difference in the lives of children in need. As we come together to enjoy a variety of entertaining games, we're also uniting in a common cause: ensuring no child goes to bed hungry.

BOURBON PULL

• $50 gets you a 'pull' from a pool of bourbons with a guaranteed value of more than $50. Who knows, you may win one of several prized bottles! 

GOLDEN PADDLE 

• $100 buys a chance to win the 'Golden Paddle.' Only 100 chances will be sold. The winner will be drawn right before the Live Auction begins and will get their choice of any Live Auction item! *Some exclusions may apply. 

HEADS OR TAILS 

• Buy a strand of beads for $10. When it's time to play, put your hand on your head or tail and wait for the coin flip. Remain standing if you guessed correctly. The last person standing wins a super-fun prize! 

WHEEL OF CHANCE 

• Purchase however many chances at a set price for the listed items. The winner will be announced at the conclusion of the Live Auction. *Some restrictions may apply to certain items.
