More lighthearted than in years past, the 2017 vintage pulls you in with a bouquet of vanilla, matchstick and balsam wood. Behind that, subtle aromas of orchard fruit, including granny smith apple and asian pear. All of this comes through on the palate as browned apple and baked Alaska! On the finish, a creamy and round wine that pays homage to the full-bodied nature of Stagecoach Vineyard Chardonnay.
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is determined to stand out and make a name for itself against a slew of intense, classically "Napa Cabernet" predecessors. From start to finish, everything about this wine is notably lifted. The aromas strike a high tone of rainier cherry, purple plum, and cola. Trailing just behind are subtle, warm tones of toffee and caramel. On the palate, the wine is bright and tart with flavors of cherry juice, cranberry rhubarb, and underripe plum. Everything about this wine points to a long, cool ripening season. The flavors are fully developed with hardly a shred of pyrazine character, and yet the acid is beautifully maintained. The combination of acid and well-integrated, fine-grain tannin implies this will be one of the longest-lived Cabernets we've ever produced.
Aging: 18 Months in 88% New French Oak & 12% 2nd Fill Oak
With its perfect balance and "gobs of yum factor", the 2018 absolutely keeps in the trademark style of Patland Syrah! The nose is elegant and enticing. It's perfumy and hightoned, boasting floral notes like violett, lavendar and potpourri. It smells of bing cherry, black plum, grape jelly, and blueberry pie! On the palate it's concentrated, intense and powerful! Surprisngly earthy, it has gravely, iron-rich notes. Those give way to bold black pepper spice, and a more intense black fruit character. Incredibly robust in it's youth, the bright acitidy and hightoned nose whisper of a wine that will age gracefully for 20-30 years. Aging: 18 months in 42% New French Oak
