I was born in Cape Town, South Africa. I trained as a Clinical Psychologist in South Africa and then later as a Neuropsychologist in London, UK. I have worked in the NHS and in private practice, both in the UK and South Africa for the past 25 years. We moved to Lake Forest in December 2019, six weeks later COVID hit. I started painting to cope with the ensuing isolation. Although I have always made art, I have no formal training and when I picked up the paint brush during lockdown, I have not painted for nearly 30 years.
I love magnolias; their structured, sculptural leaves unfolding around a central cone seems to be both masculine and feminine at the same time. They are fragrant, yet forms out of the woody stalks of a tree. It represents perseverance, but in other countries symbolizes purity, love and joy. In these small works. I attempted to capture the essence of the flower, whether its sculptural shape or its feminine flow, using different mediums, techniques and grounds. This piece is acrylic on canvas with imitation gold leaf.

She is influenced everyday by her immediate surroundings, big and small. Nature is almost spiritual for her. Ever since she was a child she has been fascinated by wings on insects and birds. She marveled at their complexity and beauty. These creature's wings are so dainty and fragile yet have tremendous strength and power.
Linda earned her BA in Fine Art from The Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago. She also studied at The School of the Arts in Lacoste, France through The Savannah College of Art and Design. She owned a successful mural company for many years before returning to her own oil paintings.
