While Steve Wolbrecht's day job is in IT, his vocation is in music. He routinely serves as a substitute accompanist for Lutheran churches in the Tacoma, WA area, and most recently scored the music for the latest Vespers setting for Holden, Bless This Night: Vespers '23. Steve enjoys putting new twists on traditional tunes, adding jazz and modern elements to well-known songs and hymns. Steve also spent more than a decade as keyboardist and vocals in a "history of rock" cover band, sang in Seattle's Illumni Men's Chorus, PLU's Choral Union, as well as Choir of the West when he was a student at PLU.
Laura Elmquist is a flutist and pianist who graduated from Luther College in 2022 and now serves as the Holden Village Musician. At Luther, they studied music education and participated in Concert Band and Nordic Choir. Since their arrival at Holden in January of 2023, they have enjoyed collaborating with staff, faculty, and guest musicians, contributing to the creation of Bless This Night: Vespers '23 by arranging the C instrument score, and sharing their love of music with the community.
