Karoly Szekeres - Raku Vessels
Dimensions: Big: 9.5" tall, 15.5" long, 5" wide
Small: 6.5" tall, 7" long, 3.5" wide
Retail Value: $1,000
This pair of dark vases have a vibrant surface that brings to mind cracked asphalt. Flashes of blue, gunmetal, and an extremely pale blue break up the exterior. The pair comes with one large envelope vase and one small circular vase.
Please note: although we love these as vases, we recommend caution filling them with water - raku vessels are not always water-tight.
Bio
Karoly Szekeres was born in 1940 in western Hungary. After graduating from the Hungarian Academy of Craft and Design in 1967, Szekeres worked for Herend Porcelain for a time before becoming a designer and artistic director for the Varoslod Majolica Factory (later the Herend Majolica Factory). Szekeres' body of work is vast and varied - the result of endless experimentation and a tireless exploration of surface.
