"My current project focuses on one figure painted in varying hues of pink, caught in a reflective memory of different eras of their life. The image is the idealized version of what that moment of time represents to them. I am playing around with setting and time to indicate seasons and to thread in themes of growth and reflection, while at the same time I am keeping color pallets and repeated symbols consistent throughout the body of work to stabilize the viewer and the subject in her universe. Themes of western and hispanic culture like cowboy hats and cowboy boots are prevalent in my current work; they stem from my characters 'The Bikini Cowboys' and 'Sunburn Babes' that appear in my paintings and film work. Being born in New Mexico and having a really interesting relationship with my hispanic heritage is an underlying element that I subtly poke at. The figures in my work are thrusted into their ideal environments, but don't always know if they are content or even safe. I play with this idea to capture the playful and joyful scenes, but they are filled with, and overshadow, the deeper conversations that are happening beneath the surface within all of us. How can one make the best out of their situation while at the same time using the act of joy as resistance? The use of material is experimental and pushes boundaries with three dimensional surfaces and bright fluorescent colors that sit next to each other to create energy and tension. I use traditional painting methods, but I also pipe on thick acrylic paint using a frosting piping tool to create thick textured lines of paint on the canvas. Film and printmaking are also heavily used in my practice. Copper etchings, relief, and silkscreen prints are methods I use to create preciousness around humor and nuance."

ANA BALCAZAR BARTRA is a Peruvian artist that works in Lima (Peru), Erie, (PA), and Tallinn (Estonia). Balcazar paints figurative new imagery of women and botanicals, depicted in illustrations, canvas, or murals reflecting on her condition as a woman, and the places she inhabits, such as landscapes or even dreamlike abstract compositions. SHAWN TESEO BALLARIN is an artist living in Lincoln, Nebraska. He received his BFA from the University of Nebraska and attended graduate school at Illinois State University. bARBER (b. 1982, US) lives and works in Midwest America. He uses his art practice to articulate various testimonies within and surrounding Black culture. SHELLY BARTEK was born in a country setting upon vast rolling hills that lead to the spirit of land and sky within it inspiring nature's narrative. MARGARET BERRY is a mixed media artist in Lincoln, NE. KEITH JACOBSHAGEN is a painter and professor at the University of Nebraska. CASSIA KITE is an interdisciplinary artist who created Soundstitching, a multimedia project that transforms color from a hand-stitched image into a musical composition that can be interpreted by a musician and/or performance artist. CHAD MICHAEL OLSEN is an artist of abstract atmospheres that explore textures and color palettes as a way to communicate emotions. When painting, he often finds himself working to capture the atmospheres of nature and the emotions from being in these places. For him, being in nature is a solitary experience-one he can only truly share with others through his paintings. His professional art career began in Nebraska in 2010 after studying painting at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln under Aaron Holz and Keith Jacobshagen, followed by several years of living and working in New York City. Her work opens cross cultural dialogues by utilizing methods of painting, printmaking, textiles, performance, and Native American ceremony in unconventional ways. Rowe projects her vision of contemporary Indigenous experience into the mix with an offbeat enchantment. Her imagined landscapes are bold and vibrant, containing a shape-shifting bestiary of tales both familiar and strange. Rowe holds a BA in Studio Art from Webster University, studying in St. Louis, Missouri and Vienna, Austria. She is of Lakota and Ponca descent.

LISSA SCOTLAND explores nature, flowers, landscapes, and the "pretty" subjects. She questions, "what makes something beautiful?" Using layers of paint, Lissa creates depth within the piece, staying curious with her colors and marks. Her use of color is often bold and surprising. Born in 1978, in Omaha, Nebraska, Lissa grew up in the Midwest. She found painting to be a therapy for the crippling anxiety that had taken over her early years. Two decades of painting later, she now lives in Duluth, Minnesota where she has a home art studio. Lissa's resume includes several gallery shows within the midwest. She has been a contributing artist to the Bemis Center for Contemporary art for almost 20 years, and her collectors include the Monroe Meyer Institute in Omaha, NE and the Essentia Health Hospital in Duluth, MN.

"My art is a reflection of my perception of nature, dreams, roots and culture. I paint colorful walls with graffiti and landscapes that symbolize the connection with our communities then I recycle my spray cans and turn them into small sculptures. I use a variety of materials and mediums in my creations, wood, metal, clay and all that my mind can explore. I practice taxidermy with birds and other creatures to give them a second life and experience how we are all connected with the essence of the Creation to coexist in our universe."

BAYLEE SMITH is a painter living in Omaha, NE. Her work focuses on the mundane and sacred objects of life. She is both a studio painter as well as a plein aire painter. Baylee recently graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in studio art and art history. Her work at Creighton earned her the top honor of Outstanding Senior for the department. Her work has been shown in the Radial Arts Center and the Hot Shops Art Gallery both located in Omaha as well as the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art in St, Joseph, MO. AMANDA SMITH earned an MFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a BA from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, WA. She has exhibited and lectured nationally and internationally, including exhibitions at SPRING/BREAK Art Show in NY, the Rochester Art Center in MN, the Leedy-Voulkos Art Center in Kansas CIty, Box 13 Art Space in Houston, the International Quilt Museum, and Biblioteca Viva Egana in Santiago, Chile. Smith has been an artist-in-residence at FljÃ3tstunga in Iceland, the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center, Arrowmont Pentaculum, Art 342 in Fort Collins, Monson Arts in Maine, and Est-Nord-Est in Quebec, Canada. She is an Assistant Professor of Drawing and Painting at Missouri State University.

BARBARA TAKENAGA is an abstract painter who makes images that are abstract and representational, microscopic and cosmic. Exhibitions include DC Moore Gallery in NYC, a 20-year Survey at the Williams College Museum of Art; wall installations at Space/42 of the Neuberger Museum and MASS MoCA; and a two person show at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art. PATTY TALBERT was born and proudly raised in North Omaha Nebraska. She earned her BFA in Fine Arts with a concentration in Studio Arts in 2001. Her work is inspired by techniques used in batiking. When the elements of batiking are translated onto wood or canvas, there is a building up of different colors patterns and textures. When sanded down the relationship between these three elements creating unique Harmony within the elements of each design. Patty chooses to celebrate her vibrant and colorful heritage with all this Glory of patterns and textures of geometric form. Her honors are among many but her most recent honor includes Most Outstanding Artist in the OEAAward 2022 as well as one of three featured artist at NFM display of a Celebration in Black Culture January 2023.

Her painting process is physical, using hardware-store brushes, broken sticks, rags, & hands to drip, scrape, wipe and pull paint across surfaces. She works in acrylic, oil, and soft wax, and with paper. Growing up in rural Nebraska, Beverly often escaped into the landscape -- happily lost for hours in the open prairie that inspires her work. Bev began painting in Santa Fe in 2018. Then opened Santa Fe Artist Getaway in 2019 moving her art practice from Omaha to Santa Fe. She coaches & leads workshops in abstract expressionism encouraging artist to paint big, free, and expressive. She also leads arts-based team building workshops for non-artists. TRAVIS DON WARNER is an interdisciplinary artist. Born in Omaha NE, he currently resides in Chicago working towards his bachelors of Fine Arts at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Travis draws inspiration for his work from antiques, toys, and tools. Travis has recently been exploring themes related to the working class. Embracing both skills used by the working class and artistic expertise, Travis blurs the boundaries between a trade and art by combining techniques and materials from both fields. Although he is color blind, Travis still paints and draws but has mainly been focusing on sculpture works as well as ceramics.

ERIK DANIEL WHITE was born in Salt Lake City, UT in 1988. He moved to Portland, OR in 2007. In 2013 he received a B.S. in Art Practices from Portland State University. While at PSU he received the Lucille Welch, Endowed Scholarship based off a portfolio review. In May 2019, he graduated from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln with an MFA in Painting. While at UNL he received the Trickey Memorial Fellowship, Wendy Bantam Exhibition Award, Hixson-Lied Fellowship, Edgren Fellowship, Kimmel Fellowship, Francis William Vreeland Award, and a Hixson-Lied Student Presentation Grant for a group exhibition in Milwaukee, Wisconsin which showcased up and coming artists living in the Midwest. He was awarded an artist residency in Haukijärvi, Finland in 2020 and again in 2022. He has been living and working in upstate New York since 2020.
