An investment at the $14,762 funds one full year of education for 1 Marian Girl -- 10 months a year, 10 hours a day. Our goal at Marian Magic is to fully fund one class of Marian Girls, the equivalent of 20 students. On average, 90% of Marian families face challenges associated with poverty - homelessness, food insecurity, hunger, violence, abuse, and neglect.

We have steadfast belief the cycle of poverty can end through a quality education that starts when girls are young, and leads to a sustainable career.

Today, like no other time, we celebrate the significant purpose we have instilled in our students.

Fund a scholarship for one alumna at an academically rigorous high school, which prepares her for success in college and beyond.

Marian's unique Graduate Support Program includes:

Through the Graduate Support Program, Marian has changed the lives of 300 girls and counting! 100% of Marian's high school graduates entered thriving post-secondary institutions in 2021.

Marian Girls face traumatic experiences such as homelessness, unsafe housing, the loss of a parent from gun violence, and depression and thoughts of suicide.

The pandemic has exponentially increased these inequities and challenges, and finally, shined a light on mental health, especially in communities of color.

Access to the quality mental health services provided at Marian empowers our students to safely process and overcome obstacles so they can reach their full potential, and ultimately find career success.

On average, there is an 11 YEAR GAP between seeking treatment for a mental health concern and the original crisis. Eleven years is too long for anyone to go without access to the support they need.

$9,792 funds counseling services for 12 students for 1 year (@ $816 per student)

These sessions help Marian Girls learn coping skills, and celebrate their achievements.

Less than 15% of children experiencing poverty and in need of mental health services receive support.

A gift of $6,528 provides vital counseling services for 8 Marian Girls to receive a full year of counseling support.

Through the expansion of our counseling services, 300 Marian students, alumnae, and their families now have access to Marian's experienced Care Team.

A gift of $2,700 funds 1 year for the Renaissance Reading Program and Literacy and library books for Marian Girls.

On average, girls may come to Marian reading 1 - 2 years behind, but by the time they leave Marian, they catapult ahead of their local and national peers!

Marian evaluates its literacy program by measuring students' educational gains. At the middle school level, these gains are based on Renaissance Learning's Accelerated Reader and Renaissance STAR Reading tests.

Accelerated Reader is a computer program that assesses reading comprehension. It is utilized daily during Marian's Independent Reading period. Through Accelerated Reader, Marian Girls select a book of their choice within their reading level and then read the book independently. The program assigns a point value to each book based on its reading level and length. When a student finishes her book, she takes a test on the computer that measures her comprehension. Tests are also taken at the beginning of each quarter. Each Marian student chooses a goal each quarter and works hard to accomplish it.

Renaissance Star Reading is an online adaptive assessment program. Marian implements this test three times per year. Administrators use this tool to assess students' growth over time, assist in planning and help with differentiated instruction.

Volunteers come from all over St. Louis to read with our girls. We strive to have a library of books that reflect our students so they too can see themselves in the world of books. This is no small task. We are constantly striving to replenish our library with heroines, authors, and characters that are representative of our student population and experiences. Many of our students are ferocious readers - don't you think that's amazing?! You can light her way to literacy!

Marian's Enrichment Program provides students with opportunities for self-discovery, leadership development, and career exploration. These activities foster belonging and connection after students graduate Marian and enter their new high school environments. The skills they build - like leadership and time management, healthy decision-making, and forming positive relationships with others - last a lifetime and help them become even more successful throughout their high school, college, and career journeys.

An investment of $1,017 for one student for 6 months of the Enrichment Program.

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines - science, technology, engineering, and mathematics - in an interdisciplinary and applied approach.

STEM challenges students to learn to apply traditional academic knowledge so they can develop critical thinking, problem solving, leadership, and life skills. At Marian, we have a state-of-the-art STEM program with students experiencing two STEM lessons per week. Marian is preparing our students for 21st century careers which require mastery of STEM-related, innovative curriculum that combines multidisciplinary, and hands-on learning. Our STEM lab classes include Medicine, Robotics, Gaming, Furniture Design, Horticulture, and Automotive Engineering and engage mentors and fellow learners.

Marian partners with several organizations to provide STEM education and resources to our students, including: The Clavius Project (robotics instruction), Ranken Technical College (STEM instruction), St. Louis Internship Program (summer internships), St. Louis Zoo (STEM instruction), The Links Incorporated (mentorship and career connections), and The Youth Exploring Science (YES) at the St. Louis Science Center (summer internships). STEM classes at Marian teach students about the Engineering Design Process, expose them to new career fields, and help improve their scores on Math and Science standardized tests. The benefits of higher wages and high demand careers are especially beneficial for students from low-income communities and communities of color, like those who attend Marian.

Do you remember the cost of your high school or college textbooks? This is an incredible stretch for our Marian Families after considering tuition, application fees, and providing laptops and graphing calculators - knowing that many face challenges associated with poverty.

A gift of $275 will support high school textbooks for a Marian Graduate so that she can continue her path to college.

An investment of $1,000 helps purchase school supplies and uniforms for the students, again filling the gap in need.

An investment of $500 funds an Academic Saturday field trip, where students and families learn and serve together within our community.

A donation of $250 helps offset expenses of our healthy meals program for one academic year.

Students receive breakfast, lunch and snacks in the course of our 10-hour day at Marian.

An investment of $100 offsets the cost of providing coats, gloves, shoes, glasses, and other items to a girl in need.
