Sponsorships & Tickets

The New Covenant Center Founder's Award, in honor of Advisory Board Chairman Emeritus, Phil Shalala, was established in 2016.  It recognizes volunteers, donors and others who have contributed greatly, in many ways, to the Center's Mission, which is focused on hunger prevention and social services for a better life.

This year's recipient is Sarita Hanley, who has served as Chairperson of several New Covenant Center fundraising events and has been on every event committee in the last eight years at New Covenant Center.  Former Board Chair Tom Kane asked Sarita to join the Advisory Board, which she accepted, about two years ago.

Sarita and her husband Greg have been longtime donors and supporters of the Center.  Both have volunteered at the Center for many years and Sarita, especially the past several years, has worked with Leisa Hinds Simpson in procuring various items and products for our clients and guests, assisted Leisa in counseling and helping our client testimonial speakers feel comfortable and more confident during our fundraisers when they have spoken so glowingly about the work that New Covenant Center has done for them, and Sarita also finds time to be our videographer/interviewer of clients and guests

Nutritious hot meals are served daily in our Cafe, and families have bi-monthly access to fresh groceries in our Food Pantry. The mission of New Covenant Center is to provide a nutritious meal to all those who are hungry. By creating a safe, warm and compassionate environment, we are taking the first steps toward empowering men, women and children to reach their full poten- tial and regain their dignity and self-respect.
