Originally built in 1925, the historic Plunge Pool, was at the time, the largest salt water pool in the world holding 355,000 gallons of water. The 60 foot by 175 foot pool was designed after the Spanish Renaissance-style buildings in Balboa Park built in 1915 and 1916.

South California is the place for surfers. People love ocean and want to be a part of it. I feel surfing is one of the sports that can connect people and ocean together. We love the blue waves, it feels so awesome to ride on it. In this art, I captured the movement of the surfers riding on the waves. I use my signature inky line to be the connection between the surfers and the ocean. Everything has its own colors, so does the ocean. I used vibrant Korean gouache colors for the surfers and the blue ocean, and the ink pen lines are the connection waves in between.

From March to May, the Flower Fields offer a serene escape where visitors can wander through rows of vivid blooms, breathe in the fragrant air, and immerse themselves in the tranquil ambiance of this floral wonderland. Myself is a big fan of Carlsbad Flower Fields, I painted this painting after my visit this year. I took hundreds of photos. When I was back home, I selected my favorite photos and put them together as the references for my artwork. I mainly used Chinese bamboo brushes and Korean gouache paints for all the colors.

Guests of Liberty Station's First Friday event were invited to paint the background alongside Margaret Gonzales and then vote on what sea creature she would paint over the top. While most of her paintings are calm, underwater scenes, this piece features a humpback whale breaching the ocean surface which pairs perfectly with the exciting background the community helped create.
