This stone tile matted in velvet and beautifully framed captures the nostalgia of Riverview Amusement Park, which is referenced in the Beach Boys' song "Amusement Parks U.S.A." Riverview Park was an amusement park in Chicago which operated from 1904 to 1967. It was located in the Roscoe Village neighborhood of Chicago's North Center community area.Riverview was established in 1904 by William Schmidt, on the grounds of his private skeet shooting range. The Schmidt family owned and operated the park throughout its lifetime.
Riverview was most known for The Bobs wooden roller coaster. Other popular coasters were The Comet, The Silver Flash, The Fireball and the Jetstream. Aladdin's Castle was a classic fun house with a collapsing stairway, mazes and turning barrel. Shoot the Chutes, Hades, the Rotor, Tilt-a-Whirl, Wild Mouse, the Mill on the Floss (Tunnel of Love), and Flying Turns were just a few of the many classic rides. "The Pair-O-Chutes at Riverview Park'll shake us up all day" is a line from the Beach Boys' song "Amusement Parks U.S.A." from their 1965 album, Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!). There were over 120 rides in the park.
The Mazon Creek fossil beds are world famous for Pennsylvanian age plant and animal fossils. They are known world over for being uniquely well preserved with a remarkably high degree of detail. Many new fossil plants and animals were discovered in this Grundy County, Illinois location, where over 200 species have been collected. Mazon Creek fossils have been the focus of research for more than 140 years, are described in hundreds of scientific publications and on display at the Field Museum as well as many other places. You can own your own collection of Mazon Creek fossils with this selection of six different sets of split fossil rocks.
This refurbished antique pendulum clock will both keep the time and pique the interest of your guests. The glass door on the front is lettered "A-Week" and inside the cabinet is "Matsushita Factory". Chimes on the half hour and on the hour, but the chimes can be disconnected if desired. The pendulum has also been disconnected for display and transport, but instructions for reconnection as well as the clock key are included.
This rustic flower planter was made from a repurposed farm grain elevator bucket salvaged from an old corn crib at the corner of Wolf's Crossing Rd and Douglas Rd in Oswego, IL. Used to load and unload grain pulled into the corn crib in carts and wagons, it can now display your beautiful blooms and bring rustic beauty and history to your front porch, deck or patio.
