Road to Peak
$245Road to Peak
12" x 16" - Print on matte by Hooey Mountain
What am I seeing?
Look closely at the photographs offered here in the Skier Series by Hooey Mountain. The skiers are miniature antique toy skiers from the 1930's and 40's photographed high in the mountains .These tiny skiers draw you in and evoke a nostalgic feeling for the dawn of skiing. All images are taken on site in the mountains and not photoshopped to appear on location. A few people have asked where each of the skier pictures were shot, but I am intentionally coy about the locations. Instead, I hope they conjure in the viewer a broad feeling of joy associated with skiing without tying into a single experience. All images are printed with archival inks on professional photo paper.
About Hooey
Hooey's work has been exhibited nationally, and her images are part of private national and international collections. Her work can be seen in person in several galleries in the US or at her studio where she also has her collection of over 150 antiques toy skiers available for viewing. Private home placements near ski resorts include: Big Sky, Jackson Hole, Park City, Salt Lake City, Deer Valley, Vail, Aspen, Beaver Creek, Whistler, Breckenridge, Sun Valley, Tahoe Palisades, Sugarbush, Stowe, Stratton, Mad River Glen, Okemo, Killington, Burke and others including homes in Australia, South America, Switzerland and Canada.

With a floaty 108mm waist, they combine a lightweight, energetic build with a stable feel for taking on varied backcountry snow and terrain. Sandwich construction and full sidewalls translate to a confident feel in any terrain.
The hybrid core 2.0 is the results of a modest but determined approach to eco-design. More specifically, the ability to mechanise the layers of wood in three directions - longitudinal, transversal and vertical - rather than two allows us to reduce the quantity of glued fibreglass with an adverse environmental impact. A true first step toward eco design keeping the same level of performance!
